Forest Wedding General Advice:
1) Decor Advice: I like to be sure I pick a type of wood and stay consistant. Whether it's a dark oak or a light cedar, go with either light or dark woods throughout. Adding wood elements in the guest book, welcome signs, table name card holders, and frames for photos and signage is the easiest and cheapest way to give "forest" wedding vibes.
2) Mix in gold or other medals to elevate the event:
Especially if you have a lot of forest in the general ambiance around you, consider having gold rimmed accents in the card box, frames, or favors for the guests. These little details pop with the deeper tones of the forest all around them.
3) Look out for your guests:
Putting your guests in the elements can means bright, dusty ceremonies on uneven footing. Be sure to warn guests to wear comfortable shoes and bring coats for the evenings if it's going to get cool when the sun goes down. Often the forest is on the shadier side so plan to have shawls, blankets, or heat lamps on hand for the day.
#4: Watch out for an earlier sunset:
As a photographer, I used to tell couples to plan for sunset to be a full hour earlier than what it would be on a hilltop. Forest weddings often need to have a little flexibility to run away for that last light earlier than other locations. Have some flexibility in your schedule since you will want to be sure to catch that magical window of time where the sun is warm and glowey right before the sunset.
